At the JCC Preschool, we believe in helping give your child the best, right from the start. Our program, which is open to children of all races, religions and nationalities, fosters a sense of achievement, self reliance, self esteem and self discipline. We seek to enhance the joy of creativity and spark children’s imagination while providing a foundation for formal education.

The curriculum is based on meeting the educational and developmental needs of children between the ages of 18 months and five years old. Children may attend some or all of our classes from two to five days a week. Our various classes give children an opportunity to explore and create. In addition, the children enjoy the outdoors in our fenced-in playground, romp in our full size gym or play in our indoor play area.

Our program is enriched by additional classes such as Musaerobics taught by Joanne Yacovella and Healthy Kids taught by each classroom teacher. There is also a Parent Group for every parent to become involved and get to know new people in the Preschool. All our teachers have backgrounds in education, psychology or related fields. They are committed to giving each child a sound and stimulating Preschool experience.

Two-Year Old Class:

The two year old class is specifically designed to challenge older toddlers with materials and experiences that meet their developmental needs. The planned curriculum includes: large and small motor activities, dramatic play, creative art, music, and water play. This positive first school experience prepares the growing toddler for additional group exercises through the use of songs, finger play, and stories. Each month, a different theme will be used to introduce colors, shapes, numbers, animals, and more. The minimum age requirement for this class is two years old (by December 31st). Children may attend two to five days a week.

Three-Year Old Class:

The fully hands-on curriculum consists of creative arts, music and movement, science and nature, language and communication, cooking, dramatic play, large and small motor coordination activities, and number and letter recognition. In the context of a trusting and safe environment, the students’ self concepts are enhanced as they learn how to get along well with others, to express emotions and feelings, and develop a sense of responsibility and self-direction. The minimum age requirement for this class is two years and nine months. Children may attend two to five days a week.

Four-Year Old Class:

The curriculum in the four year old class is specifically geared toward kindergarten readiness. Children who have completed the four year old program are more secure with themselves and the classroom experience. Our aim is to provide an atmosphere that stimulates curiosity, a questioning mind, problem solving abilities, and an eagerness for learning. The primary objective is social skills, such as manners, following directions, independence, and learning to work and play with others. A positive environment and building self esteem for each child is an essential part of our curriculum. The minimum age requirement for this class is three years and nine months. Children may attend two to five days a week.
